I visited the Kraton, also known as the Sultan’s Palace, in Yogyakarta during a trip to Indonesia earlier this year. I wandered around for half an hour, talked to some folks air-drying some leather puppets, and took photos for this panorama in the courtyard, until one of the guards informed me almost apologetically, “Sir, you’re not supposed to be here. We’re closed today.”
Oh. That explains why there are no other visitors around.
